Teaching Effect Depends on Teaching Strategies ——记英语中心周教研活动

    On April 20th, we were very honored to Ms Ren,director of Maple Leaf Education Greater English Project, here to inspect and supervise the English teaching on our campus.

  4月20日,枫叶教育集团ESL总监任丽女士莅临荆州枫叶国际学校,对我校英语教学工作进行考察和督导。

    First, Ms Ren provided her summary and feedback about the classes observed in the morning. In addition, in terms of class preparations, class activities, students’ participation in class, class management, Ms Ren also gave her suggestions which could help English teachers to identify our own teaching strengths and weaknesses so as to improve the quality of teaching design and to form a unique teaching style with personal features.

  任总监首先对上午的观察课进行了总结和点评,在教学准备、课堂活动、学生参与度和课堂管理等方面提出了指导意见,帮助英语老师们更好地明确了自己的教学优势和不足,以便在今后的教学中提高课堂设计的精细化程度并形成有个人特色的教学风格。

    After the feedback, Ms Ren gave a training about Maple Leaf Core Teaching Strategies for all English teachers. Thistraining focused on the common four strategies in English teaching, including think-pair-share, vocabulary enhancement, visual exemplars and scaffolding.

  评课结束后,任总监对英语中心全体老师进行了“枫叶核心教学策略”的培训。本次培训主要针对英语教学中常用的四个策略,即小组合作学习策略、词汇扩展策略、多媒体教学策略和支架式教学策略。

    Based on the understanding of the four strategies, all the teachers watched a demo video and thought about the strategies in the demo at the same time. The way combining theory with practice helps teachers have a deeper understanding of teaching strategies andto know how to apply them in the class to improve class efficiency and teaching effect. After the theory training, teachers were divided into groups to design a Maple Leaf reading class by using these strategies. Finally, we find that under the guidance of these four teaching strategies, for English learners, it is easier to master the learning contentand take part in the class; for teachers, we can make full use of teaching tools to improve teaching quality.

  在了解理论的基础上,老师们先观摩了一节示范课视频,同时思考视频中老师所运用的教学策略。这种理论结合实践的方式,让老师们在透彻理解教学策略的同时,更知道如何将这些教学策略运用在课堂上,从而提高课堂效率和教学效果。理论培训后,老师们运用所学教学策略,以小组合作方式设计了一堂枫叶阅读课。大家发现在这些教学策略指导下设计出的课堂,对于学习者而言,更能将所学内容模块化,更能主动地参与教学互动;对于授课者而言,更能有效地利用多媒体等工具精进教学方法,提高教学质量。

    Thanks Ms Ren so much for bringing such an effective training for all English teachers. We hope to have more opportunities to discuss other teaching strategies together in the future to maximize Maple Leaf class effectiveness and cultivate more and more Maple Leaf international elites.
